I Love Movies That Make Me Think About Life
Hotel by the river (Hong Sang-Soo, Korea, 2018)

A poet is spending some days in a hotel by the river. His two sons, one of which is a film director (there is always a director in all Hong's films I have seen so far), come to visit him. Meanwhile in the same hotel, a girl is helping her friend to get over a painful breakup.
There are films who show action, and films that show life and 'nothing happens'. This is one of them. Only life, only talks, about snow (see the video), a magpie's nest, male immaturity to love, family secrets, and the feeling that death is imminent.
Do talks just describe situations or bring them about?
