I Wear Make Up

Make up is fascinating...painting your face, is not such a bad thing...as long as you get the combination right or so I discovered..

Contrary to what it looks like I mean, I do not 'paint' my face the way one would paint their fence. I use very little make up on my face.I know it sounds like I'm saying that with alot of guilt...but there's a reason why...

It's nice when suddenly a little pressed powder and lipstick make you look different from someone who decided to not wear any make up.I can say this with alot of confidence coz I come from a place where not alot of people wear make up and everyone you ever meet wears very light lipstick or none at all. Okay I know in the west it's a different story altogether...but this is different...

It's nice when suddenly a little eyeliner brings attention to your eyes.

The barely there look.

People say 'oh wow she has nice eyes I wonder what's her secret'.

The power of make up.

Amazinng

And the day you see such a polished face and you wonder...what's her secret?

Again, as I recently discovered the answer is makeup!

And then that secret world where people wear any amount of make up just to flaunt their pretty painted faces.

Oh gosh that's not me at all.

Though sometimes I think that wearing a bright red lipstick is not so bad...

I have a lot of respect for people who can do makeup well! It's an art just as much as drawing or painting. You shouldnt have to feel guilty about it! 😺
@KidAzazel that's really sweet of you. Thanks...
Ok so you are not in the West & you have discovered that the proper make-up, applied minimally, can be...transformative. Is that an accurate rendering of your feelings?
@SomeMichGuy yes...you got that right...

I have tried to do my make up for years, and I just can't seem to get it to look good. I can't even get my lips to look girly ! I usually end up wearing big girly sun glasses to hide most of my face ... lol 🤗🤭👗
@Gentlemickey make up is all about effort, to give your best everyday...at least you do that...

I have a love-hate relationship with make-up.

@WhisperinAngelic101 My biggest problem is lack of practice. I didn't start using it until a few years ago, and my opportunities aren't very often. And then when I do get a chance, I get frustrated because it doesn't "look good".
@LookingForIt987 you have that problem with using basic things like eyeliner n lipstick...
LookingForIt987 · 51-55, M
@WhisperinAngelic101 I do. At this point, I'm probably "functional" with eyeliner. I'm hit and miss with mascara - I often end up making a mess with mascara, though it's gotten better since I purchased a cheap "shield" off Amazon. I also do OK (most of the time) with an eyebrow pencil.

Lipstick I find to be real tough. I have very thin lips, so for me to put on lipstick basically requires lip liner and "overdrawing" my upper lip a bit. I also can't seem to keep tube lipstick on, and have to use the brush-on kind to get it to last beyond an hour. (I've found Rimmell, as a brand, works well for me.)

Eye shadow is very hit or miss for me. In large part because I'm absolutely terrible at coordinating / matching colors. But even beyond that, it's often sloppy looking. (Hooded eyes - another oh-so-wonderful feature I have - doesn't help.)

Foundation? Ugh!
