I Had a Seizure

Yep there we go. Broke my six week streak with no tonic clonic seizures. And at work of all places.

I'm not ashamed to have epilepsy but it's not something I'm entirely open about with colleagues. The people who need to know, know. But that's it.

I was in a department meeting when I got the aura and managed to get to the nearest bathrooms. Thankfully, nobody saw the actual seizure but a colleague came in and found me passed out on the floor. I was really post ictal still and she didn't know I have epilepsy so was obviously confused. Not looking forward to seeing her tomorrow!

Please be honest about it.

As you've correctly said, epilepsy is nothing to be ashamed of.

i once had a friend who had epilepsy - and he would withhold the fact at most every opportunity he got. One day, he was on his way to work when he had the seizure that ended his life... i will never know if he would have lived if he'd had someone with him who knew about his condition and the treatment that he needed.

@HootyTheNightOwl I do tell people. The people in my personal life know. The principal knows, my department head knows and two first aiders know. It's just not something I want everyone to know because I judge myself hard enough without having other people do it for me.

I'm sorry about your friend though.
