Hi, I've just been through a similar situation to your encounter,albeit from the other side,I'm 51, been single for 3 years,had a few internet dates but no one really fitted the bill, is it a man thing going overboard I don't know. I met a girl online a couple of weeks ago,she seemed way to pretty for me, maybe something to do with my lack of self esteem,ticked all the boxes,I was determined to try my best to make it work, I basically followed the same line as your male friend,went over the top, bottom line,I scared her off, I've learned next time a box ticker comes along,play it cool,be fun,and just enjoy things.
