I Am a Stepmother
I started to panic thinking about him going to work the next day. I told him I didn't want him to go. I said I would only watch her if these rules are followed with no exceptions...
1. No intimidating others by yelling at them.
2. No tattling - Yes Reporting
Tattling is when you tell on someone to get them in trouble.
Reporting is when someone is doing or going to do something abusive or dangerous and an adult needs to be told so that they can intervene to stop it.
3. I will not be tattled on.
If I'm doing something dangerous or abusive the victim or an adult needs to immediately call 911, the police, or Child Protective Services.
4. No stealing from anywhere.
5. I will be asked and updated about plans away from the house and updated again if plans change.
6. Taking a walk to "cool off" is confined to our property and the end of our road. Original issue still has to be dealt with upon return.
7. No physically hurting others. Stop if asked or if the other person is in pain.
8. I will not be told " No" unless I am doing something dangerous and abusive in which case the one I am abusing or another adult needs to immediately call 911, the police, or Child Protective Services.
Consequences by loss of privileges for a specified amount of time if rules are not followed.
No exceptions to these rules.
Her dad went over the rules with her last night. She was not and is still not happy about them. She says she shouldn't have to be given and expected to follow a book of rules. So far things are going good but I'm sure she'll eventually test them.
