You can be whatever you want to

...as long as you work hard for it. And keep working hard even after you get it. If you're lucky, you'll spend more time working after achieving something than before.

In my 70 years, greed, selfishness, and lies will get you a lot further than hard work.
Melpomene · 26-30, F
@hunkalove Maybe, but I don't think I'd be sleeping as peaceful.
Carissimi · F
It’s not true. Millions work hard, harder than you can imagine, and barely survive. It’s a feel good slogan, nothing more.
Melpomene · 26-30, F
@Carissimi Then they should change their strategy. Hard work isn't just doing the same thing for hours, it's also evaluating and adjusting so it'd pay off and also knowing when to quit and find another way.
Many are also doing the same job for more than 10,12+ hours and only complaining about how life is hard, without actually having a plan why they're doing it or how to improve their life. If you can't understand/use it, of course it becomes just a slogan or a proverb.

So if you say one has to change their strategy, then you have admitted that hard work by itself is not the factor in being whatever you want. The millions of poor who work 12-16 hour days to try and feed their families have no opportunity to change their strategy. It’s the arrogance of your type that blames people for their poverty, and not the circumstances, which could be that they were just born into a corrupt system. Everyone is born with different abilities. You don’t take this into account. Your arrogance and ignorance of the world is contemptible. @Melpomene

@Carissimi I don't know if this

wasn't clear enough but if I have to put it simply: hard work (in this context) doesn't mean doing one thing for a very long time, it also means going above and beyond your abilities. If you want to be in a different place in the future, you have to change yourself for that place. And no, this isn't my arrogance and ignorance of the world, that's just how you perceive my words, instead of reading them as they are, think I'm some ''type'' (?) that thinks like this.
Everyone has some abilities. And everyone can learn some other abilities to a decent degree. But if you never learn how to use any, they become useless.
