Make learning more fun instead of just hard work. Maybe you can find Donald Duck magazine issues in Dutch. That's all very basic and still language as it's actually used, and the pictures make it easier to understand.
There's also a Dutch (cartoon) movie online that's easy to follow even if you don't speak the language. The title is "Als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel." ("if you know what I mean.")
You can find it on youtube. Stuff like that is easy to learn from next to the more dry material.
