I Lost My Grandma

What is felt can’t be described.
It feels surreal, even after the tears have dried.
No condolences, prayers, or wishes can bring them back.
No one that can know what one feels when that special person we lack.
When it is a grandparent we realize that if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be here.
They had to exist first, in this world, daily overcoming fear.
Even when they are gone, a literal part of them continues in us.
We are the hands, the voice, and the footsteps they leave behind on this earth as it was.
The story isn’t over because in your memory and in your heart they will always continue.
And part of them will always be knitted in you, influencing your legacy which will make things new.

I never had Grandparents. So many kids have been brought up by them
