I Want to Learn Sign Language

I am learning Makaton for my daughter. I've kind of gathered that the signs cover only the key words the person is singing/saying as it's supposed to support spoken communication, but is there finger spelling involved? On the video I watched it looked like there was 🤔 It's early days but I'm enthusiastic to learn more.
