I Write Fanfiction

I wanted to give a sample of my writing because... I don't know? I'm bored and wanted to post something. This is the shortest story I could find. The characters in this story comes from my favorite show, The Mr. Men Show. Mr. Grumpy is actually on the show, but I own Little Miss Music and Mr. Charming is one of my friend's OCs.

This story is called My Girl. I hope you like it.

The supermarket was busy, but Little Miss Music hardly paid any attention to her surroundings. She was listening to music like usual, in her own little world as she reached for a can on one of the shelves, but it was too high up. Right when she was stretching on her tiptoes to grab it, someone appear beside her and took down the can she was trying to get.

Turning around, she opened her mouth to ask for it back. Her throat went dry though when she saw that it was her senpai. Quickly she pulled her phone out of her pocket and paused the song that was playing.

“Here you go,” he said as he handed her the can she had been reaching for.

“T-Thank you, Mr. Grumpy,” she stammered out. She lowered her eyes to the basket she carried and put the can in it.

The blue Mr. Man followed her gaze. “Doing a little shopping I see,” he remarked. “So am I,” he added before she could respond, and he glanced down at the TV dinner and two liter he held in his hands.

Little Miss Music opened her mouth, but a flash of red caught her attention. Suddenly Mr. Charming was standing next to her, and she blinked up at him, remembering the first time she met him. Since she wasn’t from this world and where she was from Dillydale and everyone in it was just part of a cartoon show, she knew all the characters before that magical portal opened up in her closet. But Mr. Charming was a new Mr. Man she met after coming here, which made her wonder if there could be more Mr. Men and Little Misses in this world that never made an appearance on scene.

Mr. Charming gave her a playful smirk. “Hey, Miss. Music,” he said to her in his Spanish accent. “Whatcha shopping for?”

“Dinner for tonight,” she replied, looking down at her basket again. “And Jingle was running low on food so I got her some more,” she added when her gaze landed on the can of wet cat food.

The trapezoid Mr. Man leaned a little closer, his eyes sparkling. “What are you having for dinner?”

Little Miss Music was about to answer, but suddenly Mr. Grumpy pushed her behind him, and she blinked at him, confused, as he stood face to face with Mr. Charming.

“Why don’t you go flirt with someone else?” the grumpy Mr. Man demanded, crossing his arms and glaring at Mr. Charming.

Mr. Charming looked at Mr. Grumpy in surprise. Then understanding entered his eyes. “I see,” he murmured. He glanced at Little Miss Music before turning back to Mr. Grumpy. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know. Forgive me.” With that said, he walked away, disappearing from sight when he rounded a corner.

But Little Miss Music was still confused. “What just happened?” she questioned.

Mr. Grumpy suddenly started blushing. “S-Sorry but I couldn’t just stand there and watch him flirt with you like that.”

Flirt? Finally Little Miss Music understood. Oh senpai… She smiled up at him, realizing his actions just now spoke louder than any words he could possibly say.

They stood there in silence for a couple of moments. Then Mr. Grumpy asked,” Do you want to have dinner at my house tonight?”

Little Miss Music stared up at him, feeling her heart beat faster with excitement, and when she tried to answer she got tongue tied, only managing a weak sounding “Okay”.

A half-smile appeared on his face, and he reached for her basket, putting his own groceries in it on top of hers. “I can buy this stuff for you,” he offered. “And you can have it tomorrow for dinner.”

“Y-You don’t have to do that,” she stammered, shifting her feet a little. It was sweet of him to offer, but she didn’t want him to think she was taking advantage of his soft side. She would never use him like that or in any way whatsoever.

“I want to,” he insisted.

Not wanting to disagree with him again, she just nodded and followed him to the front of the store where they would check out. As they walked together, she felt him reach for her hand, and she blinked up at him in surprise. But she didn’t object when he intertwined his fingers with hers.

She was aware of whispering all around them, but she tried to tune it out. She moved closer to her senpai, blushing when he smiled down at her. The three words she’s longed to say out loud to him for so long lingered on the tip of her tongue.

But she wasn’t brave enough to be the first one to say them, so instead she thought it:

I love you.
