I Live In Portland Oregon

I'm from Portland but moved away 20 years ago, I miss it terribly every day.

@Melies I've heard so many horror stories and it makes me sick to my stomach. I used to be friends of Peterson's c-store owner's daughter on facebook, she told me how they lost the 10th and Morrison store, they were never offered their lease back after the parking garage renovation. I've lived in other places, and you're right, it would still be better.
nothing stays the same, but the air is still clean and water good tasting.
but you can tell if the car in the next lane is driven by a Portlander or someone who has moved up from California. If it's a native, she or he will slow down to make room for you if you need to be in the next lane. Some one from California will speed up, not slow down.

@Melies I'm glad the air and water is still clean. I never drove myself, relied on TriMet, but yes, I could tell with that as well, Natives were very polite on the bus while californians would try to start stuff with other passengers and the driver. Plus, those from cali would also try and deliberately splash us with puddles when we were waiting, and they hate cyclists with a passion.
I liked Peterson's and often stopped to buy magazines. Was sorry to see them disappear.

@Melies Now you know why, the owner was shafted after being there for decades, even Mother Goose on the Yamhill side wasn't renewed. But Peterson's was the best, always got snacks and a drink there.

@Melies In reality, we need another Bud Clarke, someone that has actual pride in Portland. Vera Katz and the others after her did nothing but collaborate with cali developers, which started the downhill slide.
