I Care About The Environment

I was out visiting my Mother today and heard there was almost a natural disaster in the St. Lawrence River near Morrisburg. A laker carrying chemicals went aground last Tuesday. They had to bring in 2 tug boats to pull the Chem Norma off the shoal there. I was able to get a picture of it today on my way home. Fortunately it was upright and no chemical was spilled in the channel.

@MethDozer ohh right usually are Terrestrial or otherwise (e.g. japanese knotweed

@SW-User Yeah the River generally gets hit by the fish but usually rebounds from them somewhat. Like with the gobies, they were decimating perch, walleye, and smallmouth bass fry and eggs but now the walleye and smallies are preying on the honors and growing ducking huge. State records are being busted and the smallmouths here are starting rival the size of largemouths in the deep south.
The plants that take screw everything up. Especially the Milfoil.

@MethDozer hmm interesting how species develop like that adapt and evolve in a few generations

Yeah, it got grounded on one of the old Alcoa sand bars. It was loaded with petroleum too. They spent days trying to tug it out. They had more than two tug boats. They had several working on it for days until they brought in two more especially big tug boats in from Canada.

Oh and it is the Chem Norma. Not Chem Sandy. They are going to raise the water levels to try and raise it off the bottom.
@MethDozer I was just there, hence the picture and it's been uprighted and pulled off the shoal. So fortunately no other measures had to be implemented.
