Can someone please explain how "lampost" is an acceptable abbreviation for "lamp post"?

I questioned this on Facebook after seeing the strange-looking "lampost" there. Is it a post for a lam, or an ost for a lamp? Remember, if there is only one "p" it can only belong to "lamp" OR "post", one or the other. Not both. So what is a lampost? Is it a post for a lam, or an ost for a lamp? LOGICAL ANSWERS ONLY, PLEASE.

Here is your logical answer - it's not an acceptable abbreviation for "lamp post".

Well, if you want a logical answer, then it's simple. Whom ever wrote it, forgot to put a p in there. There is no lam for a post or a lamp that needs an ost. It's called a typo.

Is it "you" or "thee"? Language changes!

@NosmoKing Nor is your trolling on others language acceptable!

What you are doing is precisely that. Trolling. Which is why I keep on replying.

Maybe when you have reached 500 blocks you will learn that correcting others language is not only not acceptable yet also rude. Maybe.

A real troll won't block. So just in case you are just rude and only playing at trolling, I thank you ahead of time. 😊

I don't know, maybe some people can't spell. Personally I write it as lamp-post.
