I was a tomboy , still am to some degree . I like to do things men like to do . Hunt, fish, drive big trucks in the mud, weld, fix stuff , wear overalls ... but then again I like to feel pretty , wear pretty things , have a bow in my hair , and wear make up . I think it’s the embodiment of conflict between masculinity and femininity ... but then again I’m all girl .

It’s usually the the things she’s interested in and how she dresses. It’s similar to a guy’s look and interests. They’re not considered to be the things most girls would be interested in or how they would dress. As to why she’d be considered a Tom “boy”, similar to a girly girl. Someone who’s considered to be more feminine than the average girl. They’re just titles that has a lot to do with their interests more than anything. I was considered a tomboy growing up. I never wanted to wear dresses or much of anything associated with girls. 😂

It would be attitude first, and you usually find that girls with this attitude wear their hair and choose their clothes because it's more practical for them.
It's what she does ,tits dont matter

Part attitude and part what she does, for example a tomboy will run around climbing trees and not be bothered about playing with girls toys.

Yeah I agree with answers that are already here. Attitude mostly. That generates the rest. Jeans over dresses. Baseball over barbie. Cars over easy bake ovens. Climbing trees instead of smelling flowers. Just stuff like that.

I think it changes as the girl gets older.
As others have said earlier on here, it tends to be her flat chest, just jeans and shirts, joining in with boys with things they do, little interest in traditional girls’ toys and activities.
And then as she passes through her teen years and into her 20s maybe it leans towards how we think a lesbian might look.
Although traditional roles and stereotypes are often mistaken.

Like others have said I've found that term to be based in her interests. This is a bit of an old fashioned spin on it but whether or not she'd rather be outside playing baseball with the boys instead of inside having a tea party with the girls.

It is purely by choice l. Like us (girly boys)

Tomboys are definitely feminine as opposed to dykish or crossdressing.
A tomboy might wear boyish clothes, but would add girlish accessories.
Tomboys enjoy doing boy things, but with girlish flair.
Tomboys are straight and enjoy playing with boys.
