Japanese School or American school

If you were a teacher for a day, would you teach a class full of American students or Japanese students? I work in an American public school and some kids are rowdy and disrespectful. I never had the experience of being in a Japanese classroom but from watching videos the students seem well disciplined and work together as a unit. There’s this app I use called periscope where you can watch broadcast from around the world.I follow this one Japanese so I can ask her how are the children in the classroom.

I've worked in the US and I've worked in asian countries (not Japan, though). I very much loved the different attitude regarding discipline, respect, politeness and diligence teaching there. A cultural thing I indeed appreciate very much.

@OpalFlower Thank you so very much for "Best Answer". If you have any questions regarding teaching in Asia and around the world, feel free to ask me. :)

I’m just a substitute teacher, but many of the kids I’ve subbed for have been increasingly disrespectful and apathetic towards learning. So I’d probably pick Japanese just to experience it

I’m a teacher support and I deal with the same nonsense you mentioned. I would deal with Japanese students as well.@Effloresce
There is a distinct difference in the two (US and Japanese) cultures regarding obedience, respect and discipline (self imposed) and respect for family. We here in the states in our Public School systems pretty much lost those tenets, ergo.. rowdy, disruptive and coddled students.

Well it’s funny how you said public schools lost those tenets because they are passing out booklets that has a focus word of the month to follow. One of them would be respect and majority of the students dismiss it.@soar2newhighs

@OpalFlower Obviously, they need to do more than pass out a pamphlet. But no one can sue you over passing out pamphlets, and school districts cannot afford teams of lawyers plus the funds to fight lawsuits.

it’s the culture. i’m sure any nationality of children would behave much the same if raised and taught within a similar culture.

i would choose the more organized and calm culture.
OpalFlower · 31-35, F
@pentacorn So your best bet is the Japanese school. The school I work for has a mix of cultures from African American to Hispanics. I usually see more African American kids act up in classes.
pentacorn · F
@OpalFlower wow... i don’t know how to reply to that.

Lol 😂 @pentacorn

Japan, definitely.

あめりか人 学生 は 失礼な でも 日本人 学生 が丁寧 です, はい.

I'm a little biased.

@Tatsumi Ahh, fuck. アメリカ* 3 different writing systems gets confusing. >_> Ma ii. I'm learning.

That said, there is a lot more harmony in the collectivist society of Japan, where emphasis is put on the group, rather than the individual. It has its pros and cons--but, seems like a lot more pros compared to the West.
