Why is the message "it's okay to be white" controversial?

People have nothing better to do. If they worked a job from 9 to 5 they wouldn't give a crap.

Starting on October 31st, 2017, posts began circulating on 4chan calling for viewers to place posters with the slogan “It’s Okay to Be White” in public places as a “proof of concept” that a “harmless message” would cause a “massive media shitstorm.”

what do you think the reaction would be if the signs said "It's ok to be Black?" The "Black Lives Matter" sure has pissed off a whole lot of white people....the people who have ALL the power and privilege in society, the people who work very hard to keep people of color down.....do you really not see what is wrong with that sign??? You need to educate yourself in the world of racism

Assholes rarely need a justification to be pricks to others.

Because the groups posting them, in many cases, are using them as codespeak for white nationalism. Beyond that, it's a silly message, it has never been "not okay" to be white. The power structure of western society has evolved through a white lens and success was defined in a way to benefit whites to the exclusion of others.

There is no need for that I guess. Black people were fighting on the name of race bcoz of slavery and their exploitation due to color. White people don't need to these kind of messages bcoz they don't go through racial abuse on a mass level.

It is NOT controversial to the majority - only the minority and the Political Correct fools will say it is controversial
