I Like Proverbs

[big]Twi Proverb[/big]:
Wo ba saw asa-bone a, se no sɛ, 'Wo asaw nyɛ fɛ', na nse no sɛ, 'Okra, tete gu mu'.
If your child dances badly, tell him, saying, 'Your dancing is not good', and do not say to him, 'Dear soul, just dance as you want'.

Nah, everyone needs to dance - badly is fashion and relative to the next dancer - so dance dance dance lol

It is true that 'Asa bone nkum asase' - bad dancing does not hurt the ground. There is no harm in trying something that you are not yet good at. But we value our children too much to let them think that bad is good.

Actually the proverb is not really about dancing. It's just an example. All African children learn how to dance well as soon as they can walk.

@Ampan I got the metaphor. Sometimes it's ok to do things for enjoyment even if it's badly done tho lol

Yes, that's just what the second proverb really means. 👍

@Ampan yes. So basically tell children "it's the taking part not the winning that counts" my dad always said to me "whatever you do, do it with love"
