I Love Myths and Legends From All Cultures

I've studied the Inca, the Aztec the Mayan and others.
Each has their own distinctive set of rules that they follow.
One of the more interesting are the Maori from New Zealand.
All those tattooed symbols! And each one has a meaning, it's not just a design !!
It's unclear exactly how a people largely thought to be Polynesian in descent came to rest on two small islands in the South Pacific. Whether it was mans natural desire for discovery. Or whether folk were escaping exploding mountains elsewhere???

Ta moko - tattoos.
They range from small, slave ownership marks to entire body length tattoos!!
Personally I like those representing life.

I was just telling someone on here the other day about a friend of mine from there who is part Maori, she is heavily tattooed but not with tribal ones, one time she got a fake one on her chin and some people got upset with her because it was tribal.
I think it was natural discovery but I'm not 100% sure, I read something about it once but I can't remember 😬.
I've never been but it looks like an amazing country.
Any of the symbols stand out for you? After seeing that viral video of an intense wedding haka I've been quite curious about Maori culture.
