What are some local traditions you have that you think are useless?

That whenever we visit someone we gotta bring them a 'gift', not useless but financially breaks my back T_T

Also when someone dies we have several wakes for them, on the day they die, 3rd day, 1st week, 1st month and then annually, wtf <.<
