What’s the best way to deal with a child that hits?

A smack on the back of their hand, just enough to sting, make it clear that it’s an unacceptable act and an immediate consequence will follow.

@Cuda6868 Hitting someone to teach that hitting is wrong seems counterintuitive. However, I guess it can make sense if it’s positioned:
“See how you don’t like being hit ? Neither does anyone else.”
