Comparing my dad to your dad

When I was little, as boys we would always argue saying things like, "My dad is stronger than your dad!" or similar such things. I'm curious if girls ever did the same? Did you compare moms instead? What characteristic did you often compare?

No I never did. If anything other boys mostly should tell you’re mamas so fat...jokes or end with a sexual jab. Ex that not what your mom said last night. Interesting to connect it with how society in general categorizes women. It would have been amazing if we instead said/heard things referring to how strong mothers were or how smart.

@lovelychicadee Maybe parents just need to have more mindfulness about this to be the kind of parent where their children can say more positive things about. I feel like we have more, "I'm never going to be like my mom/dad!" I must have said this, too, a million times and I try to remind myself of this to be a good example for my girls =)

@zerostarshine I think that is very true! That’s great you do that. Especially since the father figure often is such a factor in how girls grow up and value themselves and how they should be treated.
