I Read and Write Fanfiction

There's this guy in the bus and I accidentally looked at his phone and saw Archive Of Our Own. I'm excited that I found another fanfic reader but it's not like I can go up to him and say, "So you read fanfiction too?" I would look like such a creep and everything, but he looks like such a cool guy and nice too.

So, why would you look like a creep?

Were you hanging over his shoulder reading it, or did you just happen to see it as you glanced at his phone in passing?

Opening gambit.......excuse me, I'm sorry. But did I just see what I think I just saw? Is that Archive of Our Own?

Let him take it from there. He'll either respond with yes or no. And then he'll either carry on a conversation or he'll end it there.

Usually when I try and start a conversation I mess up and say something that makes me look weird or bitchy.

@Cynocephalus463: the most important thing is a friendly smile and saying excuse me. It's a strange phenomenon, but it's difficult to sound bitchy when you're smiling. What's the worst that could happen? He gives you a dirty look. He isn't going to hit you. If he's very rude, he might swear at you and tell you to F off. But then you know that he isn't anyone you would want to know anyway. I see it as a win/win situation. You meet someone nice with similar interests as yours, or you discover he's a jerk and you're lucky to discover that sooner than later.

@Serenitree: That makes sense, but I'm sure with my luck I will accidentally do something when I finally get the courage to talk to him.

@Cynocephalus463: luck has nothing to do with it. You lack confidence. It's not surprising. You're young, female, and despite all the so called gender equality, there still seems to be some people who believe the man should make the first move. Much has changed in the last 60 years, but not, it seems, this.
