I Was In a Car Accident

Corolla May Look Weak, But Wow Tough Seats... The next year, I'm driving to work and am stopped at a light waiting to turn left into the shopping area where the theater I work at is located. The light changes and as I am in the intersection, I begin to turn left. What I don't realize is a Chevy S-10 that is running the light coming from opposing traffic. He broadsides my Corolla right dead center between the passenger side doors. This flips the car around so that it is facing back out towards traffic instead of my intended path. At first my major concern is, 'where are my glasses?' So, I look around for them and luckily they are on the floorboard on the passenger side. Once I put them on, it dawns on me what just happened. The guy who hit me is out of his truck and bitching up a storm about being late for something or other still talking on the cell phone that he was using when he hit me. I look around and my window is busted out and the whole right side is bent in only stopping at the front passenger seat (Thank You Toyota :-) ). Amazingly the car will still drive, but I'm a bit shaken up, but otherwise uninjured. The guy's truck only has some cosmetic damage to the front. The police arrive and cite me for failure to yield since I was turning left. Of course, me being a 24 yr old and the guy was 40 something, my statement carried no weight with the cop at all. I was very angry at the time since yes I failed to yield, but the idiot failed to stop at a red light because is stupid meeting was more important than anybody else's life. I was very lucky to walk away from a totaled car. The blessing in disguise is that I fell in love not long there after for the first time and had a wonderful three years before that went south, but that's another story.

It was just so unexpected and took me by surprise. But I did learn a valuable lesson.
