Where to begin singing the praises of theese boys?to say that they helped change my life is no understatement.Longtime fan,from the time Give 'em enough rope came out-I was young,but had a very hip uncle-who had,yes-hung out with the band,as I've heard so many people report.Very few stars of their caliber had the time or inclination to actually spend time with or listen to the very people who put them where they were.
The Clash had the honesty and integrity to blaze a new trail,their unique fusion and passion for the roots of music make so many of today's bands pale in comparison.Plus they helped make a hardcore Reggae afficionado out of me,which might not have happened otherwise in my neighborhood.Not to mention informing my political consciousness,helping me believe in my self as an individual who could speak out against opression,and bother the hell out of my parents(although Grandpa thought that was the funniest t-shirt ever)all to a snappin'beat and fine twin guitar attack.
their timeless vision will always have a place on my playlist and I'm always glad to meet youngsters who get into 'em too,the torch will continue to pass as long as we have campfires to sing around.
