Well. I was looking for immediate gratification . But I guess this group fits the description.
I think my generation and younger people are becoming complacent and used to immediate gratification .
Let me explain:
With the click of a mouse we can answer a poll and see the response . We can google anything.
I can see it from our style of cooking , eating at a restaurant , interactions .
People want to graduate in 4 years and earn right away six figure salaries .
Entrepreneurs have become villains often because they make money ( but nobody realizes the risks taken and all the energy they have spent on their projects ).
That is why from time to time I take a respite from the crazy life and go on a vacation that disconnects me and grounds me :
Hiking or walking , riding a bicycle , talking to people , slow eating , creating .

no doubt at all...its an "instant" world we are living in...our children are a prime example..they are living it, and expect everything at the snap of their fingers.

Ive raised one to adulthood, and it started way back then..we are trying to change that thinking with my youngest, but its so difficult in this "NOW" world!!!

Oh yes, I concur. Seems to be quantity versus quality. Sometimes we need to disconnect and reconnect with nature and our deeper selves.

Great question...

The book The Marshmallow test talks about that very issue of delayed gratification

Truth is in my real life I have my fair deal (as many of us do) of delayed gratification... And adapting to that has been challenging but also very rewarding...

My mantra has usually been hard word then hard play...

Online... Not sure
Coming from the era long before Internet
(Letters, faxes and phone!) I think one can be less susceptible to the instant gratification thing... Maybe... Maybe not

Thought provoking post man
Peace

Yes and in a negative way. People don't care to put in effort when they can just fleet around and get things easy. And when things come easy they go easy. And it turns into a vicious cycle of shallow instant gratifications that never seem to fulfill.

I work for a wholesale company and remembered how it took anywhere from 2-4 days for them to receive their product, and there was no problem. "Now"...if they don't have it the next day, they want to call and raise hell!

Was thinkibg about this more...

To be honest anyone who has had a mortgage in their life is pretty damned sure to understand what delayed gratification is... Lololol

Hehe
It looks like most of the responses so far agree ...
I am interested an open to hear a dissenting voice .
@yerolman: yes, that is true ! Lol!
