I Don't Like Food

Food has become my enemy. I use to enjoy eating, cooking, trying different kinds of food. Now it seems no matter what I eat it bothers me, almost making me sick. Every day my choice of what I can eat is getting smaller.
I've been to doctors and every test shows no problems. Yet I keep losing weight. I manage to eat something, just I have food in me. I don't know what the problem is, or how to correct it.

I am having the same problem. Extreme weight loss. I believe it could be gallbladder/digestive problems. I watch what I eat too. Fruit and certain veggies I avoid or I run to the bathroom. Curently I am taking digestive aids which work most of the time. Eating rice has helped me tremendously when I eat trigger foods, plus pepto bismol when I'm having a rough day. I hope you and your doc figure out whats wrong. I'm trying a healthier appproach for now and if it doesn't improve, see a specialist.

@SW-User Thanks for the feedback. While you run to the john, I have the opposite problem, can't go. Doctors found no blockage. He told me to get over the counter medications, not really working. Thanks again, and good luck.

@GunSmoke9 Thanks. My grandkids suffer from constipation, now and then. I give them lots of water, prunes, raisens, apples, beets, please try beets. One beet a day reverses constipation. Increase fruit too.

@SW-User I use to like beets, not sure now. It's almost like I have to force feed myself, since I'm not hungry much. I had a bunch of tests and don't want anymore. They found no problems. Doctor thinks it's stress. Thanks again.

I was just thinking about you this morning trying to figure out what might help you. If you try a beet, just boil it or grate some on a salad, as a topping for food, its supposed to soften and bring water to bowel movements, which eases constipation. Its worth a try, eat it with the foods that you can tolerate. Increasing b vitamines will increase your appetite. See if that might help you too.

@SW-User Right now I'll try anything. Finding foods I can tolerate is getting harder. It might not be a good idea, but I'm back to having a few beers a day, to put on weight.
SW-User
@GunSmoke9 Me too!I finally gained some weight having a beer every night. I hope you'll give my suggestions a shot. Take baby steps.

@SW-User Beets from a jar ok? I will make an appointment with the specialist one last time.
SW-User
Sure you can try them. Fresh is always best tho. But whatever helps and is convenient should be okay. Whether it works or not, beets are so good for you. Work up to one a day and see if it helps. Remember, baby steps.

@SW-User Thanks, I'll try your suggestions, and let you know. I appreciate your help.

@GunSmoke9 You're welcome. I care, I know what you're going through. Keep me updated!

@SW-User I bought beets from a jar, couldn't find fresh ones. I put them in a bowl with salt. I'll see what happens. Didn't really enjoy them. I'll get fresh ones next time, and try them your way.

@GunSmoke9 I was thinking about you this morning, wondering if things have improved yet. Fresh beets are best, they taste different but are so good for you in many ways. Everyone has to find the right combination of fiber that works for them. Of all things, plain white rice, a soluable fiber, is helping me tremendously, along with whole food supplements. Have you ever seen a chiropractor or other heathcare giver besides traditional doctors? If not, they have natural remedies that involve whole food supplements that might cure you. I take some with beets in them called A-F Betafod, by Standard Process. It helps with both of our ailments plus other ailments, gall bladder and bowel related.

@SW-User Thanks for thinking about me. I definitely have to try beets another way. I go to cooks.com for recipes. Doctor told me to take stool softener, works sometimes. I'm done with taking tests, they find nothing. My bigger problem is finding foods I can enjoy. Gets harder everyday. Any food ideas are welcomed, and thanks again.

Beets, avocado, prunes, raisens, apples, peaches, potatoes, strawberries, broccoli, green beans, zuchini, yelow squash, are foods that might help you. Eating too many fiber foods can actually cause constipation. There has to be the right balance for each individual person. I still recommend beets, they really work.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Some of those I like. I'll look for different ways to use them. Just bought apple sauce.
SW-User
@GunSmoke9 Great, hope they sgree eith you. I think its the fiber messing you up. Years ago my parents had a peach tree. She gave me a huge ripe peach. After I ate it I ran to use the bathroom. Peaches are very cleansing.

@SW-User My grandfather from Italy had a fig tree. I can't find figs like that anymore. Neither the small pears from a neighbor's pear tree. Also from Italy I think.
SW-User
@GunSmoke9 Well both of those fruits will work wonders on you too. I'll bet those figs were yummy.

@SW-User Ginger and aloe vera juice will aid your stomach and soothe it.
SW-User
@therighttothink50 Mine is fine but Gunsmoke might benefit from that also.

@GunSmoke9 This is a bit pricey but it has helped me and others I have suggested it to. I do not know if it would help you but thought I would mention it. The stuff really cleans you out. Prunes are also great pipe cleaners :)

@SW-User You know best :) ...
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Yes they were, also the love my grandfather put into growing them. I can eat ground beef, but not with hamburger helper. The apple sauce worked for now.
SW-User
@GunSmoke9 I'm so glad you found something to eat that agrees with you! I cannot eat packaged food anymore either. I can only eat fresh food. I hope you find more foods to help you.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Not long ago I could eat any flavor of hamburger helper, not now. Mac and cheese is also out. I have to make adjustments. Sausage without peppers, potatoes or bread. I wonder if my dental problems are affecting my taste buds.
