My Drummer Beats For Me... When peers say let's go do this it will be fun, I'll be the one to ask why.
When everyone is picking on the new/small/etc. kid, I'm the one who asks why and befriends the kid.
When society tells me who I should date, how old they should be, what color they are, etc.; I say it isn't any of their business - If I like and love her that should be enough. You will have to accept her, if you want to stay a friend of mine.
When I'm told to get in fashion, I ask what's wrong with what I'm wearing. They may be 10 years old, but are in good shape.
When the masses say to be Patriotic because of 9/11 or be Green because of the environment, I say where were you before 9./11 or before the ozone was damaged. I was patriotic as soon as I was old enough to understand the great land I was privileged to live in. I was green from birth, because my mom taught us to always be conservative and recycle just as she was taught by her parents.
I am a first born and I lead my pack where I choose. I might not always be right. I may make mistakes, but I am honest enough to acknowledge them. But I will always be at the tip of the spear, because I can't see from the back and I always want to see where I am going.
