I Have A Role Model
My PE teacher, Miss Thomas. She is way more than a PE teacher, she tells us girls to stand up for ourselves and not accept sexist or disrespectful behaviour.
On Friday our class walked to one of the playing fields and some men putting up scaffolding on a shop started whistling and making disgusting remarks. She walked over to them and basically explained why they were complete idiots. She wasn't angry, she only raised her voice enough so we could hear what she was saying, but it sounded like she was telling off a couple of younger kids. Then she asked to speak to their foreman and he came out and she made him seem pretty silly as well.
She made them all apologise to her and then she calmly walked back to our group and we got on with the lesson without her saying anything more.
I think she is totally awesome, and so do most of the other girls!
