I Will Write A Letter I Will Not Send

Dear mom and dad,

You have not failed.

I may be living in a room, hustling to finish high school, and not in a dorm on some college campus. But you have not failed.

Not everything you tried to teach me just passed me by.

I value hard work and believe it's the only way to go. I don't believe in gaining money without working hard. Be it doing physical labor or helping someone out. I don't just get it. I earn it. You haven't failed.

I don't just run around and buy stupid stuff. I do admit to struggle with this. But I'm better then I was ever before. I'm slowly but surely leaning how to manage money. You haven't failed.

I have left my old friends. Friends that were just there to pass the time. I learned there are two kinds of friends you have. Ones that you hang out with to have fun and have memories. But they are there to pass the time. Because the second group is the kind that care, support, teach you life lessons. I went through my friends and closed doors on the ones that just helped me pass the times. Most of these were the ones who held me back in life. Maybe not in a noticeable way at first. But I learned. You haven't failed.

-your daughter.
