where was i, where was i
i was a naive kid in 7th grade. I lived on the outskirts of Chicago. Suburb
that day....the teachers forgot how to teacher. they froze
we sat silent in class a little while. then went home
i dont remember how i got home but i remember my mom was there
we turned on the tv
i was so excited i got off early by 330pm so i could watch my favorite tv show...sabrina the teenage witch.
but then all broadcasts were taken over by 9/11
the one girl i remember....she was on the news...she said, "i hope my daddy is ok". and as a girl who lost her dad only months earlier....it really gutted me.
because he wasnt ok
she was covered in soot
her dad was gone
i had just wished i could hold her
and go back to sabrina the teenage witch
and forget this adult stuff
i broke a little every day
