I Am Shy

I'm shy, but not quiet. People have this false perception, that someone who's shy must be really quiet and anti-social. It's understandable, because shyness and being quiet go hand-in-hand.
However it can be opposite for people. Some people can be quiet, and not shy. Or, shy (like myself), and not quiet.
Being a quiet person means you don't have a lot to say; while shyness simply means being uncomfortable in a situation.
I frequently feel uncomfortable in situations that I'm not use to, however, I tend to become more social than usual. I also laugh and tell jokes a lot when I'm nervous. So, most people don't know that I'm shy, because of my actions. Although, in reality, I'm super nervous and uncomfortable.
