[image deleted]
I never thought I would be on psych meds for a long time. :( I am now dependent on them, time for my night meds.

@SW-User For the most part I agree, I do think we rely too much on a lot of medications, but I think with mental health things are a lot more complicated.

Just like people are dependent on meds for other medical conditions. Nothing wrong with that when they can save your life.
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@LyricalOne Your are totally right its just I tend to not tell ppl I am on medication because automatically I am labeled as crazy an that words really makes me feel badd about myself but yea it totally help mes.
LyricalOne · F
@JaneCas The stigma against mental illness is very unfortunate. Regardless, there’s no need to tell anyone. And feel good about yourself for getting help. Countless people never do and suffer in silence.
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@LyricalOne Thank you hun! And yea that's why I work in the field.

Long term meds are nothing to worry, or be embarrassed about. They are used to fix a chemical imbalance in the brain. You won't see people with heart, or other health issues, worry about such things.
I will be on meds for the rest of my life. It is what it is.
There will be someone somewhere who will love you for who you are. Don't change, or act, to fit in. Be you, and the right people will be drawn to you.

I am an open book. Lots of people take psych meds and I am like, "right now the citalopram seems to be working" and I am due to up my dose in a few days. This works especially well because it will be giving me a medication bump right before my period.
imo21169 · 41-45, F
they leave me numb😔
imo21169 · 41-45, F
@LyricalOne i quit them
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@imo21169 You really gotta experiment on what works best for you because I have tried so many and atm I am stable haha :)
LyricalOne · F
@imo21169 Hope if you’re still suffering you will keep trying.

@JaneCas i know ur pain. Im taking hormones and im going to have all kinds of mental and physicsl changes. If u need a friend to msg im here for ya.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
AND you're never going to make a word out of those crappy letters 😕
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@JaneCas Antidepressants or antipsychotics.
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@Quizzical It does not matter they are both for mental health, ppl do not tend to say what meds they are on when and if they tell someone but simply say " I am on meds" which ppl in my experience usually associate with mental health, I know because I work in the mental health field.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@JaneCas I used to as well, though only in an administrative capacity.
Pfuzylogic · M
I feel your pain.
I started insulin last August.
Pfuzylogic · M
@JaneCas i understand that.
Past shit can run your life.
Your mind doesn’t simply drop it. A therapist that knows and cares is the only way to get through that and very tough to find!
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic Yea I have seen many therapist and got rid of a lot of trash but theres some still lingering around lol haha
Pfuzylogic · M
@JaneCas It is so strange with them...professions emotional distance which can make them seem like they don’t care and hence less opening up to them.
PhillyPhill · 31-35, M
What happens when you skip one or two, or a few?
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@PhillyPhill If I skip one or two days theres no real difference but if I skip a week than I notice a difference which I have not done in a long time. Thus I typically become very depressed almost manic like, have obsessive thoughts, highly anxious, and feel really suicidal at least this what I believe.
PhillyPhill · 31-35, M
Whoa.. lets hope it never gets there 😞
JaneCas · 26-30, F
@PhillyPhill Yea I am wiser now and make better decisions when it comes to my mental health so "knock on wood" haha I will be fine. :) Thanks!
