I started writing a book a while ago but then I stopped. Now I want to write at least once a week no matter what to get it done. It is hard sometimes to be disciplined! Any suggestions?
I have to write a lot for my job and while that's different than writing for yourself it really comes down to "making" yourself write. I might think about setting aside an hour or so every day. Close the door, eliminate distractions and just write. If it's not good at the end of the hour then delete it and try again the next day. That's the thing about writing. The words don't magically appear. It's work. Good luck.
Set aside a certain time purely for writing, and write. Don't worry about grammar, spelling or anything else. Just tell yourself the story on paper or screen. Eventually, your characters will take on their own life and things will be easier. That will be your first draft - the first of many before you have a book.
I have the same problem. I am currently writing two books in a series at the same time. I would suggest scheduling a time to write each week, if not each day. Actually put it on the calendar!
