I'm a member of Mensa.

I joined Mensa in October of '96 after completing their verification process following a certified supervised test.

I've always had a high IQ & have loved solving problems, riddles, puzzles etc. and enjoy taking part in the local connections / groups / meet-ups.

IQ though doesn't actually mean a lot to me; although I am proud of my score.
On the Mensa supervised test I received 161. I'd previously been tested & obtained a score of 169 but it wasn't certified & or recognized by Mensa.

The average IQ in a given population is 105-111. Mensa recognized "Genius" as 141 or above & puts you in the top 2.5% of the population.

The highest IQ possible in the world is theoretically speaking is 200, although some people have been known to have an IQ of above 200.

Everyone with an IQ score higher than 111 is lucky enough to have an 'above average' intelligence. But there are select individuals with the fortune of much higher IQ scores.

The person with the highest IQ ever recorded (to my knowledge) is Ainan Celeste Cawley with an IQ score of 263.

Ainan Celeste Cawley (IQ score of 263)
William James Sidis (IQ score of 250-300)
Terence Tao (IQ score between 225 and 230)
Marilyn Vos Savant (IQ score of 228)
Christopher Hirata (IQ score of 225)
Kim Ung-Yong (IQ score of 210)
Edith Stern (IQ score over 200)
Christopher Michael Langan (IQ score between 190 and 210)
Garry Kasparov (IQ score of 194)
Philip Emeagwali (IQ score of 190)
Judit Polgar (IQ score of 170)
Albert Einstein (IQ score between 160 and 190) *He never actually had an IQ test.
Stephen Hawking (IQ score of 160)

According to Terman’s scale, anyone with a score under 70 is classified as “definite feeble-minded”; anyone with a score between 70 and 79, would have “borderline deficiency”; anyone with a score between 80-89 would be afflicted with dullness. Most people have a score between 90 and 111, which means that they are classed as having a "normal" IQ.

Once you get an IQ score of over 111 you begin to take note. A score between 111 and 119 would indicate a "superior" or "above average" intelligence; a score between 120 and 140 would mean a "very superior intelligence"; a score over 140 would indicate "genius" or "near genius".

What's your IQ? Do you know? Are there any other members of Mensa on SW?

Howdy Mensan.

I've been a Mensan since 2003
Depending on the varying tests, I am between 168 and 187.
But don't let that anything be deduced from that - I didn't pursue much of an education (didn't have the opportunity to).

It's more of a frustration than anything else really, I am too perceptive and receptive to subtle indicators - tends to take the surprise/adventure/chase out of life experiences.

With the advent of social media, I feel that Mensa doesn't offer much these days. It use to be a platform of exploration and innovative ideas/approaches, but has lost it's charm. (Speaking purely from my own personal experience, and in my country). The other 'turn off' for me is the general ego and 'pissing contests' that many Mensan intellectuals had with each other - there ways always someone trying to prove his intellectual prowess over another.

I do wish I was utilising my IQ in a better way though... something that benefits mankind or become immortalised in some respect...

oh well... c'est la vie

@Eidolon This.👌

WOW! Thank you for the BA! This is such a honour.

First of all, thank you to SW for affording me this hefty title among the many other nominees. They are no less incredible and any of them could be deserving to be up here accepting this award.
I'd like to thank God Almighty, my family and friends, and especially my devoted fans. Look guys! We DID IT! and I could not have done it without all of you, your guidance and support.
With this memorable experience, I'd never be the small town kid who made it all this way to pursue my dreams of 'Best Answer'.
I want to thank my tireless SW colleagues and especially @L33TH4X0R for this incredible recognition.
Let it be known that if we all rally together, we can make this world a better place, don't limit our potential with a shallow imagination. I am nothing but creation, but together we can create. See you all at the after party!

IQ though doesn't actually mean a lot to me

*proceeds to make a long post about their IQ and how they received a higher score than Stephan Hawking and taking care to mention that anyone above 140 is, according to Mensa, a genius

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
L33TH4X0R · 41-45, M
@EuphoricTurtle I wanted it to be educational lol what I was getting at is that IQ to me say's you can recognize patterns & actually has very little to do with knowledge or intelligence.
@L33TH4X0R patterns like subjects and verbs in a sentence so you can conjugate them correctly?
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@L33TH4X0R sure buddy 😉

It's weird that for all your intelligence, a post bragging about your IQ is exactly the same as one from a lower-intelligence person lying about his IQ. Weird, huh?

IQ is measured as a percentage of the average score, so the average is always 100.

Well you guys should've solved all the worlds problems by now, shouldn't you, j/k. 😁 Grats on being a member of Mensa. Must be very interesting. 👍
L33TH4X0R · 41-45, M
@SW-User I'm working on it lol.

It is actually quite interesting though.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
Do they discuss menstrual issues there!?
Eidolon · M
@Unlearn They discuss. period.
(see what I did there?)
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Eidolon No it was too subtle for me...not all of us are Mensa members you see.
Eidolon · M
@Unlearn Either that or it's just bad timing on my part.
Alternately, when was your last pregnancy test? 🤣
j/k

but seriously, I found the vast majority of Mensans to be more talk than walk. They would always be debating -thiesms and would have past times or pet projects like building their own submarines or some whack stuff like that. And it wasn't with the mindset of "Because I can" but rather felt eerily like "Because I MUST"
And don't forget the SETI bunch either (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence), now those were deep in the rabbit hole... 'curiouser and curiouser'.

You tend to get more lost in Mensa than finding anything of real significance/value 🤷‍♂️
But you do get exposed to things outside of your little bubble. That much deserves some credit, just don't forget to pay your annual membership fees on time. As you rapidly get disqualified for membership with Mensa. Take advantage of the 'early renewal rates'. The sooner you pay your fees, the more likely your high IQ would stay intact.

Alas, I've not paid mine for a while. I must be as dumb as a doorknob by now 😞
I do not know.

I never really felt smart so probably below average.

Here you go! Pick one! One from UK mensa itself! 🤣

@L33TH4X0R We don't know your name and you've blacked that out, so even a dummy name would not be an issue. As for what the point would be: that's what I'm wondering too. Maybe you can answer that?
L33TH4X0R · 41-45, M
@NerdyPotato I blacked it out to not display my name.

If it were just taken from the site & the name was the same as it would be; the name would still be visible beneath the black-out.
@L33TH4X0R Protecting your privacy if it is real makes sense, but with or without blacking it out, we have no way of knowing this is actually yours. Maybe it is an official one that you didn't print yourself, but it could still be one of a friend. Such a long post about IQ, introduced by a statement that it's not important, is a bit paradoxical either way.
