I stumbled upon this group and thought you might like to hear about the time I went into mud with ALL of my clothes on! There was a really muddy area at the back of my work, being developed. it was basically a building site. And I went out the back door, and got locked out! So I had no choice but to go across the mud to "escape". I was a bit concerned about my clothes, but it didn't look too deep (how wrong I was!) I was dressed smartly for work with my nice grey trousers, a smart top and a black cardigan over the top. My shoes were cute little slip-ons in the style of ballet pumps. Because it was December I was wearing black socks, with reindeer on them and amazing bright red toes and heels! Who doesn't love Christmas socks? Anyway, I started making my way across the mud and it slurped and squelched up the sides of my shoes and I could feel it getting onto my amazing socks a bit! And you know what? It was REALLY DIFFICULT to keep my shoes on, it was so thick and sticky! A couple of times the bright red heels of my socks popped out as my shoes momentarily stuck! Things took a big downward (literally!) spiral after a few steps. With no warning apart from a loud burping sound I quickly sank in over my ankles in this slimy brown hell! I could feel loads of wet mud flowing into my shoes! I was so shocked as I stood there, but I couldn't help having a little giggle to myself! I guess I felt a bit of a rebel, being ankle deep in mud in my smart work clothes! I tried to continue but I simply couldn't move my shoes, they were stuck fast. The only way I could free myself was by slipping my feet out of them and leaving them behind. This meant squelching into the thick mud in my beautiful Christmas socks! I took a last look at what was left of the brightly coloured socks before stepping shoeless into the deepening mud! Although it felt pretty gross and slimy to be in the mud with my shoes off, it was instantly much easier to move around, my socks just kind of effortlessly squelched in and out of the mud, and I had no stress about trying to keep shoes on! This was definitely not good news for my socks though! Then, it got even deeper! I was very near waist deep and had to get onto all fours and kind of "crawl" across the remaining quagmire! When I finally got to the other side, I was dirtier than I've ever been in my life, pretty much covered in slimy brown mud from the breasts down! Every garment I was wearing had mud plastered all over it. I have to say, wading through mud in socks is not good for a girls toenails! And I didn't get my shoes back, they were lost forever! The weird thing is, the whole experience was actually rather fun.......! I travelled home singing "Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud" to myself before spending what must've been HOURS cleaning myself up!

@emilytips oh I bet it was haha was that the first time you've gotten muddy like that ? I've found myself in some sticky situations but it can definitely be a great time haha oh I bet they were absolute mess 馃槀
@Livinlife11 Yes, that was my first time ever in mud! I couldn't believe what was happening to me as a simple walk across the area became more and more disastrous and slapstick! The final indignity was actually having my shoes sucked off my feet! Oh, muddy socks!!!! 馃ぃ
Oh I bet it was such a shock for your first time haha do you think you'd ever do it again just for fun ? Oh I can imagine haha I've had a couple moments where I've lost a boot or two 馃槀
not weird at all haha I've had a couple hikes get pretty off course and end up rather muddy haha would you dress like last time or Linda dress for the mud ?
Right on hahaI can imagine it feels pretty good getting covered in nice clothes, think you'd wear boots instead of shoes so it would be harder to lose them ?
The thing is, one of the biggest giggles I had was when I had to carry on in just my socks. It was fun, and all slimy and squelchy! So I'd probably wear little pumps again! 馃槀@Livinlife11
I agree with you on that especially when the first couple of steps get deep quick haha it certainly is easier with our them haha rubber boots can get rather heavy depending on the mud 馃槀
Oh I bet haha especially with it happening so quick 馃槀 it's a real shock when the shoes come off for sure did you try and dig them out or was it just a lost cause haha
Oh I bet they were haha its rather fun when you slip your foot back in and the mud goes everywhere haha I've been in that predicament a couple of times 馃槀
