I Write Poetry
The curtain parted
And she caught her image in the mirror
And saw pain, scars, humiliation
And a canyon within her soul so deep and dark
That even the sun shied away
And deflected it's rays elsewhere.
She choked on the image
And turned in disgust
Only to see her friend
Smiling beatifically with love and laughter,
The eyes screaming, "Beautiful!!!"
But she believed the mirror,
Believed the darkness,
Sank into the canyon,
And buried herself there.
When life and love and happiness lay
In the mirrors of her friend's soul.
And she caught her image in the mirror
And saw pain, scars, humiliation
And a canyon within her soul so deep and dark
That even the sun shied away
And deflected it's rays elsewhere.
She choked on the image
And turned in disgust
Only to see her friend
Smiling beatifically with love and laughter,
The eyes screaming, "Beautiful!!!"
But she believed the mirror,
Believed the darkness,
Sank into the canyon,
And buried herself there.
When life and love and happiness lay
In the mirrors of her friend's soul.
