I Don't Have Much of a Relationship With My Dad

Perhaps that's cause he's no longer alive ...

But even when he were alive this was true. He hated me. I'm not sure what I did to deserve that or how a father can actually hate their child but that's how I grew up ... Frightened to death of a man who loathed me.

It was similar with my own dad. Maybe yours was a narcissist. They have this paranoia sometimes. He hurt and sabotaged my siblings and I and thought he was just defending himself against people who were against him (when you're a kid, of course you aren't plotting against your parents but he didn't get that). Who knows why.
You didn't deserve the hatred. Sorry you went through that whether our dads had the same issues or not.
