I Have a Bad Back

I'll try to keep this short. At the age of 40 or so I woke up one morning and couldn't stand up straight. Lasted for months. It was a slipped disc at L4L5. The one time I didn't go to a Dr. and a big mistake. Thought it was a pulled muscle.
The biggest mistake of my life was visiting a Chiropractor - he was out for my money not looking for my health and ultimately destroyed my disc....fragmented it.
First surgery was a discectomy. Pain was incredible. Fast forward to being diagnosed with degenerative disc disease at the same level. Next big mistake was having a great surgeon talk me into getting an artificial disc (they don't do these anymore). Made the pain WORSE. I ultimately was able to deal with it but it got progressively worse again to the point that I was using a cane to go to my mother's funeral. Only way I could cope.
July of '17 I bit the biggest bullet that being having spinal fusion at L4L5 & L3L4. It's much better now but it's taken a long time.
LESSON: choose you doctors carefully, listen to your gut/instincts not necessarily intelligent surgeons that say they can fix anything. Yes have been on opioids for decades as well plus all the other pills you can imagine. Sleep - not easy and and still using a TENS unit to be able to sleep.

I guess I was really lucky. I had a slipped disc at L5-S1 and was fixed by a chiropractor in 6 weeks after months of physio which did nothing.
