I Am Dissapointed In Our Society

I sat there sharing lunch and a decent conversation with a homeless guy the other day and someone automatically assumed I was homeless too. Says something about the kind of society we live in I think.

Not being disrespectful, but you are judged by the company you keep. Nothing you can do about that especially if you do not know the person assuming it. Why does that bother you? You cannot control others thoughts and they are basing their thoughts on your actions.

@bigjohndl well that's kind of sad too. I know it's not my place to control people's thoughts and actions and I don't try to but why should people be so free to judge others based purely on what they see?

@Skelepop666 people judge others everyday by their actions. Have you ever crossed the street to avoid a potential situation with someone in your path? I judge the homeless many times when I give them money and then see them walk to the liquor store or then get into a new car that was parked down the street. Oh yes, many times I have sat and watched what they do just out of curiousity. I given them enough that they do not have to stand there much longer. It is interesting to see what happens. I love to see how people react and I can afford to do it.

Yes, I judge mainly to insure that I am do not suffer at their hands. Peoples actions speak louder than words.

@bigjohndl Oh, and by the way. I take many homeless in to eat. Especially if I know they are former service members like I am. And it does not matter how they are dressed. And I see people that look down on them in judgement also. It is human nature.

I don't tend to cross the street to avoid a potential situation. The closets thing to that is when someone is walking too close behind me and I stop to let them walk past me. But that's not a judgement thing as I do that to everyone- male, female, old, young, single people, groups of people, friends, my kids, strangers- it doesn't matter. Have I judged people? yeah, I'm not perfect, but I tend to shy away from judgements as much as possible and if I have that much of a strong reaction then I will at least make an attempt at approaching said person to strike up a conversation that way the judgement is not based purely on sight alone.

@Skelepop666 Well, I guess if you are wielding the scythe of death as your avatar suggest, then you need to fear no one. Hope you remain safe in your endeavors. Have a Merry Christmas!!

Haha, I have fears, then again if someone beat the hell out of me it wouldn't be for the first time. and I'll get over it.
Hope you have a merry Christmas too :)
