I'll be honest, if there is a discussion going on about politics I tend to stay away from that because there might be an heated argument about it and I'm not getting involved. Just keep me out of it.

I think it is important to share ideas, voices, and opinions. However, staying calm, accepting, listening and respecting of an opinion that’s different from yours is a very important. And sadly, people really don’t do enough of that these days. I can understand why you would want to stay out of it.
