@dunpender: true, but he was abnormal in his time, the irony in all this is that an established top level artist for instance Kat von D can actually produce works comparable to the great artists, the difference being the medium she uses to present her art, the pity is that you sir, as a lover and appreciator of art, are closing yourself off to some of the best and most beautiful works in the world today by choosing to believe that art can only exist in a gallery and only then if it is on a canvas daubed by someone who the historical establishment has deigned to be worthy of the name of art. Leonardo da Vinci was a radical who was shunned for his methods and yet he is lauded for his most famous surviving portrait...please I implore you..do not close yourself off completely to the true majesty of the evolution of art in its many forms, do not base a prejudice on the flash tatts you see, the little unicorns, and devils holding hearts, instead, please please please search out the true works of tattoo art that is out there and expand your horizons and impressions about 'what is art' you will be infinitely richer for it!

@dunpender: Well, since it seems like you like getting caught up in unimportant facts about art to judge them, I'd think you wouldn't like artists who make art based on masturbation and desire for one's own mother.
Norse symbol for protection I think..very nice..the symbol not the ripped guy...although I can appreciate he has a good body, I do prefer the image photo shopped to his back more than him ☺

The thing in the middle is an old Norse symbol that's supposed to make sure it's bearer is unable to lose their way, even if the way is unknown.
The runes around it doesn't say anything specific, and are just runes used for protection, happiness, successful relationships, etc.
So it's not only a really cool tattoo, according to Norse folklore, its magic!

@NorthernRoses: it's a great piece

What does it say?
NorthernRoses · 26-30, F
The runes around it don't really say anything in particular, (literally "futharkgwhnijghpze[...]... Not really any word, just the rune alphabet) but in norse folklore, every rune is supposed to have something it represents, like personal growth, relationships, joy, comfort, etc.
The thing in the middle is a Vegvisir, which is a... sigil? not sure if that's the right word, but it's an old, norse sign supposed to make its carrier unable to lose their way, even if the way is not known.

What is stopping you?

Lack of money... 😭 Tattoos are so expensive, especially if I want to make sure it's from a good one.
