I Hate Work

Correction- I hate my WORKPLACE and will be finding a new job as soon as I can when I get back from maternity.

I think I've been a bit of an idiot really. I had to leave work at 25 weeks pregnant because they were pushing me far beyond what I could handle and my blood pressure shot up to the point I was hospitalised. I work in a hospital and basically they constantly gave me three people's workload and didn't let me sit down. I would constantly be apologising for being "useless" and trying to keep up with the others, all the while feeling absolutely horrendous.

Since I've been off, not one of my colleagues have asked how I am, even the ones I thought I got on with, not even the ones who were excited for me and said they wanted to meet the baby and be "honorary aunties" ffs. The last three girls who went off to have babies got a gift basket which we all chipped in for. In fact, I went to the last girl's afternoon tea/shower at work and donated to her gift.

I got nothing, not even a card.

I'm really not bothered about "stuff". My daughter has everything she needs. It's the nastiness that has woken me up to the fact that I really don't think anyone there likes me or cares about me. It's been a huge wake up call. In a way, it feels better because I don't need to pretend anymore and I don't need to try so hard. However, if I decide to announce my daughter's birth on social media, I will be laughing to myself if they all start pretending to be my friends again.

That sounds like a toxic environment. Definitely get out of there.

The most important is you and your daughter. You don’t need them. I sympathize because when I was pregnant some of that happened to me. So I went out a month early and got a doctor’s note.

@BlueRain best thing I ever did! I think probably I'd be really ill by now if I'd stayed. I'm going to focus on my family and forget the crap. I'll deal with it in a years time if I have to go back!

There's a job going where I work, but you would have to be my network technician.

@Starsandfire That's a shame. I am good at training and that is not meant in anyway out of context.

@CommandLine my boyfriend will do it, if he can work from home :p
