How did we get here and where to next?

A question on here provoked this but I think it's worth my capturing my thoughts:


I'd say look at how mainstream values have altered in the past decades, even the last hundred years or-so, and why - or how. Then consider connecting those dots with what's happening today and changes that are being pushed, together with why. Following money trails can also be useful. Then decide what place you want in all of this, given how these factors have come into play in your parents lives and yours. Then take things a step at a time with only your most carefully evaluated and trusted supports.
