@PhilDeep I wasn't being combative. We are in sister ships - the HMS and USS Denials.

In fairness, moving too soon would at the time have drawn heavy fire, too.

That was March at start of the lockdown in the UK. Taking stock, it's now October, and luckily, the situation did not become as bad as people feared it could.

So far anyway.

What has happened though is many elective treatments like joint replacements were deferred, and a lot of people became reluctant to consult their doctors about worrying symptoms through fearing either contracting Covid-19 in hospital or of burdening the NHS. Unfortunately of course, if they were becoming seriously ill, not coming forward could mean them becoming far more ill and needing a lot more, and more intensive, treatment - the opposite of what they intended.
