Have you ever lied to a mental health professional (psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor)?

My mother was a crazy and violent person. But whenever I took her to a psychiatrist, she would lie to them, often making it look as if I were the crazy one,and they always believed her and not me, even when I had hard evidence of her behavior, like medical records and police reports.

So, have you ever deliberately kept the truth from a mental health professional? Why did you do it? What did you fear would happen if you told the truth? Were you believed?

Yeah they often believed my mother over me. When I did end up in the hospital I never really tried to persuade them. But they saw that I wasn't exactly as what my mother describes me. They caught on to some of my view. I had more freedom in the hospital than at home. And I could talk to other teenagers/people. She couldn't manipulate me while I was there. And she couldn't manipulate the hospital.

When I was outpatient and saw a counselor I didn't say I had suicidal thoughts cause then I'd be sent back to the hospital.
