I Have Something to Say

what’s at the other end of the drive
what’s on the other end of the line
what’s beyond the curtain
what remains yet unseen

what’s beyond the moon and the stars
what’s over the horizon
a short cut to Mars
what’s behind the sky on the clouds

is what we have now all that there is
can I take for granted
and I usually do
not counting the costs
not seeing what’s ahead

suppose what I had before
was the best I could have
but I didn’t appreciate it
as I certainly wanted more

and now I’m here
in a place I don’t belong
trying to peek beyond the veil
hoping to see what’s in store
