I Took A Photo

The beautiful Hobart wharf area with the lovely old buildings. That's the Derwent River and the Eastern Shore in the background. It makes me soo homesick.

@nojudging okay I've been to Launnie and Devonport and Burnie and all up there quite a few times. Its just as good as south. I just love my Tassie :)

@Scubaguy027. The big aircraft carier ship? I remember that, it almost filled up the river and didn't come to the wharf because it was probably too big. We met a girl who was on it, I think her name was Karen, but I'm not sure. She had dinner with us because my dad had some contacts. He used to be in the navy, a submariner :)

That's it! That's definitely the ship I saw. Wow I can't believe you were on it and now we are talking to each other... Soo cool :)

Oh definitely. I'll get back eventually. This Pearl Harbor after we left Hobart maybe two weeks later [image deleted]

@Jenna yep. The large ships don't get to go to places like that very often which made it better I think.
JennaBug · 31-35, F
Lol, map of Tassie haha. That's soo 80's. Nobody has maps anymore haha 😂
JennaBug · 31-35, F
@OWTFWN yes it is. My old hometown.
JennaBug · 31-35, F
@Ghostrider. Okay I'll do it asap 😇
JennaBug · 31-35, F
@Scubaguy027. I couldn't believe how big it was... It was HUGE!!!! And Karen was soo nice and she said she really enjoyed coming there. I'm glad you did too. I think my dad has some photos of your ship. I'm going to look at them when I see him :)

Oh yeah we went out for six weeks for training in the summer of 01 and were supposed to deploy Jan of 02. After 9/11, rushed our training and pulled out two months early and 7 1/2 months later we were home.
JennaBug · 31-35, F
Omigosh, yeah I remember Karen saying they had been away from home for soo long, but I didn't remember it was that long! Six months! you would have been soo glad to get home.
JennaBug · 31-35, F
@OWTFWN I was still a teen and my dad had to move interstate so we all had to go too. Now I have a job here and my family is here too. But I WILL move back one day. I really really will! 💕
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
@Jenna I would love to come back. Now that I'm older I will be sober more than half the time. Lol. To be young and dumb again. I do need to buy a kangaroo but sack coin purse if I ever get back there
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
I had the chance to go there in 2002 when the USS Stennis pulled in and that was probably the most fun I had. Amazing town and awesome people
nojudging · 61-69, M
@jenna no I'm from the North but spend plenty of time in the South as well. I meant local as in a Tassie. I like visiting elsewhere but love coming home. 🙂
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
I spent about 9 months of my life on that one. When we pulled I think at that point we had been out six to six and a half months.
JennaBug · 31-35, F
Well Scubaguy027, you really must come back. I think you would really enjoy it :)
Ghostrider · 51-55, M
Yeah Jenna. You should move back so I have somewhere to crash when I go there.lol
JennaBug · 31-35, F
That must have been hard. You must have missed your family and friends soo bad :(
Scubaguy027 · 46-50, M
