I'd Rather Be Alone Than Unhappy

I love him, but I don't love when he is staring at the screen when I'm trying to make conversation. This bothers me, and I shouldn't have to tell him time and again that I want him to look at me when we're having a conversation. I feel alone in the same room with him a lot. It's not fair. I wait for him to respond to me, and don't feel I should have to do something drastic for him to actually give me his undivided attention. It's been this way for a while, and he keeps saying he wants to get better, but I wonder if that's to put me at ease.

His pronouncement of his improving is merely a charade to satisfy you for the moment. It is plain to see from your description that your concern is of no importance to him. Disinterest in another is the first indication of a relationship gone away. People, who love converse and relate their affection through the communicative process.
You will in time find a growing disdain for this behavior and a slow realization that your affection is not being reciprocated and his own self interest has displaced any concern for you.

men and women are different. if you actually give him his time he will actually seek your attention.

Don't worry, nothing happy about being alone.
