In Malaysian we call it standard. Standard 1-6 which is from ages 7-12. I teach standard 5 and 6. Which means year 11 and 12 stds

Nice... it is interesting to me how different cultures regard grades and education as well. Which history do you teach? World + Malaysian? etc?

@SoggedNapped: You see one of the biggest drawback of Malaysian education system is that it is purely exam oriented and centralized. We're given a textbook with stringent rules. So we need to finish the syllabus before year end exams. So instead of learning students are rushing to complete syllabus. Besides current textbooks heavily emphasize Islamic history which is a snore. During my father's era they used to study about world events. Now not so much.
