Comeback to the classroom

I, like most teachers, am quite concerned about the comeback to classrooms (here in early September). We see that realistic plans are not implemented by our educative authorities, who are unwilling both to rack their brains to find solutions and to spend more money.

A while ago I got a message from a colleague telling about movements among teachers saying we should refuse to go back to school in September. I cannot agree with that stand. If there are no teachers in schools, a parent must stay home to take care of them, and the whole economy (and therefore the whole society) suffers the consequences. We cannot think only of our job.

However, if infections start getting frequent among students and teachers, all of us (students, parents, teachers, other school workers) should be adamant in our stand of stopping activities at school until a reliable plan on how to deal with the pandemic at school is provided.
